New to bee keeping, got a “nuc” approx 4 weeks ago and everything seems to be going just fine. My question is that I keep replacing the “Sugar Water” when they run out… should I be doing this now that they are established in their new home or should I stop and let them go out on their own. We live in Idaho in case climate makes a difference. The days are in the high 60 and low 40’s now. Thanks in advance.
Welcome to the forum and to beekeeping.
Building out a new home takes an enormous amount of energy, so feeding syrup gives the bees the fuel they need. Bees prefer nectar to sugar, so when there’s a choice, they’ll stop taking syrup. I suggest you keep feeding until they stop.
I also suggest putting some food colouring in the syrup so you can see where it is stored. When you add a super, it’s good to know if they transfer syrup up.

Everything Mike said! And, nights in the 40s mean less building gets done because bees are focused on staying warm and keeping brood warm.
