I am not sure what you have available in your part of India. If there is a local beekeeping club, I strongly encourage you to ask them what they recommend. Universities, colleges and polytechnics can also be a great source of information, and many of them will give you free advice. Ask if they have an Entomology Department - they study insects.
In the US, I recommend that beginners and those in urban settings keep Italian bees. They are usually gentle and very productive. However, they do eat a lot when the nectar flow declines, and often require feeding with sugar syrup. You may not have these bees available in Khopoli, but I am sure that you will be able to find something helpful from local beekeepers.
