Hi, has anyone used barbecue smoker pellets called pitboss? Are they safe to use in the smoker for the bees?

A quick look at the ingredients for this product shows only hardwoods, no additives, so this seems like a safe choice. Never use lighter fluid, be sure to remove all tape from bits of cardboard if you use it for tinder, and that any duff/natural material you collect as tinder is not from a plant or tree known to have toxins.

Hi Michael, I recently started using wood shaving from an electric planer after reading on this forum, I think it was @DextersShed said that wood shavings last a long time. Once I get my fire going with cardboard, I add the wood shavings mixed with sawdust & it keeps going for a surprisingly long time. It burns right down with very little tar or buildup on the inside of the smoker. So that’s something to think about.
