Wood staining for darkened locked corners

Hi, this might be a silly question, but how does flow hive darken the corner locks of their wood to have the checkerboard affect on the boxes. I have just bought an ideal box to help with overwintering and would like it to look the same as the flow boxes.

Laser burn. You could just torch the ends of your other boxes to match.
