Can’t find an answer to this and I’m new at this so forgive me if this is obvious.
Do the base, brood box, and super attach at all to one another or do they just stack passively on one another? If so why is that? Seems likely to topple.

They just stack passively although some people do strap them together.
That being said once they are full of stores and the bees have put propolis in all the joints, the boxes are pretty stable.
