Bee Escape Board for harvesting Flow hive

Does anyone use a bee escape board before harvesting Flow hives?

I never used one and am wondering whether I should.

Nah, the whole idea is that you harvest the honey without being concerned about the bees in the super. However, if you are wanting to inspect the Flow frames prior to draining, then an escape board will remove most of the bees and hopefully you won’t need a smoker. Bear in mind if the Flow super is full it will be VERY heavy.

It would be a great idea since the frames need to be inspected before harvesting anyway.

Remember:
Close any top entrances:
Seal any holes where you think bees can get in above the escape board:
Leave on for 2-3 days max because there will be less and less bees to defend against SHB and robbers.
