Recently I’ve come across some interesting ideas concerning the use of Chelifer cancroides or book scorpions as a possible addition to a hive in order to combat Varroa mites as they actively hunt those pests. Turns out there are a a few studies and pilot programs that seek to incorporate them back into modern beekeeping. It’s even seems possible to combine this with the use of Oxalic acid as a chemical treatment of mite infestation. So I’m wondering if anyone has actually tried this with a flow hive or if there is interest in the community to try this new approach.
