I don’t have bees yet but a friend has a hive in our paddock. We have to of the cotton suits from Flow. Just wondering how many people have been stung through their cotton flow suit? I love mine and don’t want a triple layer one but just seeing what others have experienced.
Yes, they can sting through the cotton ones. The triple layer ones, eg ozarmour brand in Australia, are thicker than the bee’s sting length thus much more effective.
Even in the thicker/ozarmour one if you bend over or compress the suit the bees might still be able to reach through and sting.
It is possible to be stung through any suit (a completely impenetrable one would be too difficult to move in!) - however, they do massively reduce the likelihood of being stung, and can also mean that any sting attempts are less ‘successful’ (so the stinger doesn’t make it in far enough to do much).
To maximise the effectiveness of your suit it’s best to wear it a baggy so its not pulled tight across the skin which can create a potential access point.
