Hello from North Pole Alaska. Newbie build my hive over the winter. I will be getting my nuc on the 24th. Can’t wait to start my journey.
Hello and congrats. It would be great to hear how you’re going all the way up there!
Welcome Shane, and Lilliana! Wow,
North Pole, Montenegro, beekeepers and Flow (or should I say ‘floe’ ) are truly everywhere
Shane, here’s a couple links to older posts by other Alaskans and winter survival - maybe they are still around!
Please update us on how your season goes! I’m in Pennsylvania US, with 7 colonies after splitting 3 strong ones of 4 that came thru winter. They’re building back up and it’s almost time for me to super I think. Inspection on Saturday will tell.
Things have been going good so far. A little hiccup with an early queen release, she didn’t survive it but the hive has been requeened and they are build up the comb very quick in the brood box. Temps have been cooler at night right now high 30s. But with the way it’s going won’t be long before I need to add my super cause they are just moving along.
