Hello this is My introduction

Hello All Community Member,

I am happy to join this buzzing community of beekeepers; I am new to beekeeping but already deeply fascinated by the art and science of it. I set up my first Flow Hive & I want to learn more about maintaining healthy hives and harvesting honey.
I have participated in a number of discussion that have undoubtedly greatly helped me; I still want to share & learn as well as start my own conversation to answer my question and learn more.

If there are any posts or resources that are suggested for new users. Plz share with me

Thank you…

Hi Kieranas,

Welcome to the Flow community, it’s great to have you here!

I’ll include some links in this email that I hope will help orient you and provide you with some more information to get started

As a new Flow beekeeper, it is important to be fully informed about all aspects of what is involved with establishing your hive and caring for the bees.
Here is a great page on getting started in beekeeping which might be helpful for you.

We also have a fantastic online beginner beekeeping course – jam packed with extremely useful information for new beekeepers.

We recommend that you also contact local beekeepers and join a beekeepers club, as they can offer advice on how to keep your bees happy and healthy and are the best resource for advising on the most suitable beekeeping methods for your region and climate.
They can also help you to obtain or purchase a bee colony, and instruct you on how to place them in your hive. If there are no bees available locally you may be able to buy them from a bee supplier online.

What the Flow Hive does is make extracting the honey easy.
This is more than half the work of keeping bees, but the other parts are important too. Part of keeping a beehive is inspecting the hive for pests and diseases, especially in the brood box where the queen and worker bees live. To do this, you need to open up the hive, so we recommend the use of protective equipment such as a beekeepers suit and a smoker. This is an important part of beekeeping to ensure your bees stay healthy, and the frequency of inspections will depend on your location.

You may also like to have a look at our Flow Community Forum (
https://forum.honeyflow.com/ ), which has lots of information for new and old beekeepers. If you can’t find an answer on there (there’s a search function in the top right-hand corner), you can post a question and one of the experienced beekeepers will get back to you with their advice. There’s also a section on there for connecting with locals in your area, which can help with beekeeping info specific to your area. If you would prefer to connect via Facebook, we have our Flow Hive Official Community Support Facebook group.

There is also lots of information available in our FAQs on our website.

Our Facebook lives are a great way to learn too, and ask your questions to Cedar  They are on every Wednesday morning 10am AEST (Tuesday, 5pm PDT) via our Facebook page.

Keep asking questions in the forum as you go and reach out to us if we can help
