It is very apparent through only post within the past 8 hours that you’ve made you may not read all the comments or threads on this website/forum.
Many of us if not all of us have made comment about people joining the local the clubs and learning from mentors in the area.
That I have done. That many have done.
Telling a well educated person they cannot have children until they attend a daycare for a period of time taking care of small children is slightly absurd. It may be absolute a necessity in some upbringings I’ve seen.
And actually in the United States studies are showing that the bee population is actually growing in number yes we still have a tremendous problem but due to small beekeepers like myself the actual number of these are gaining in population.
It is the large pollinators that are likely causing part of the problem due to needing to make a profit in the industry. It’s a small beekeepers that really and truly care about the environment and will spend like myself a lot more money on the proper care and maintenance of the hive to ensure nature and sustainability.
The new parent, a new pet owner and new beekeepers will be making stupid mistakes, Darwin’s theory will be in play, hopefully they’ll be more learning than destroying.
Let’s try to use your knowledge that you apparently have in educating and supporting and positive comments. The people you’re trying to reach will be immediately turned off and shut down with this kind of negativity
I’m doing my level best to ensure my hives’ viability as I go through this learning process and sharing my experiences and yes, my mistakes along the way.
The adage, “You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette” comes to mind. In order to achieve something, it is inevitable that something may be, or even has to be destroyed.
Ultimately @goatboy they’re insects and just like internet trolls, we’re really good at making millions upon millions of them.
Now excuse me while I go place Fumigillin-medicated pollen patties in my hives to help prevent nosema from becoming a problem in the bees I apparently care nothing about. Then again, maybe I won’t. Maybe treatment-free is the way to go and my neighboring beekeepers will just have to deal with my apiary full of potential little Typhoid Marys. Maybe I ought to get a spore count first and then decide. Maybe, maybe, maybe.
See, it’s hard not to make a mistake in someone’s eyes. At least I am big enough to admit when I do.
Your last sentence is 100% false. The Flow Hive is the reason I started beekeeping. I joined a club, read lots and lots and currently have a healthy hive…a hive which would NOT have existed if it wasn’t for Flow, so yes, the Flow has helped.
Your last sentence is 100% nonsense. ‘a hive which would NOT have existed if it wasn’t for Flow’? Why would you only use a FH to keep bees. Did your club have experience of using FDH’s.
FH’s are a very sucessful marketing exercise. What do you see as the benefits of a FH?
Fumagillin used to be used in the uk to treat diagnosed nosema.
Genotoxic effects have been described and it is banned in the EU. If any body is interested in an alternative that is not an antibiotic you can use thymol added to winter syrup.
Yup, Marty I was thinking the same thing at first - but the sharp, dry ‘Finnish’ is missing from this vintage…Dawn’s right, it’s a new one…kinda sour, lacking something…
He signed into the forum in Febuary according to his profile but didn’t submit a reply until now. Seems strange, maybe a tell tail sign of more like him.
may be ‘nonsense’ to you - but makes a lot of sense to me. Reason being I am exactly the same: would not have a beehive right now (and a healthy one at that) if it wasn’t for flow frames. I have also joined our local beekeeping society, and making many new beehives over the coming weeks, and am reading widely about everything bee related. None of this would have happened if it wasn’t for the flow hive. By the end of this season I will be responsible for at least 5 new beehives. =
Managing our first hive we removed several traditional frames of capped honey the other day- we don’t have an extractor and even though we can access one it hardly seems worth it for just two frames. So mum decided to use the gravity method to extract the honey- this is the text message she sent me:
“If there was ever any doubt about the flow frames - it is misplaced. Gravity sucks xx”
Jape actually contributed some interesting comments however & wasn’t, generally, so vindictive(?), aggressive. He also shared his own experiences with Bees
The FlowHive is the reason I got into BeeKeeping, I investigated about what is it to be a beekeeper. Joined a local club and went on a course to learn how to keep bees.
FlowHive makes is it easy to extract honey and is less messy that the traditional way.
My bees are very healthy. I thank FlowHive Team on creating the FlowHive this has generated new interest in beekeeping.
