The yellow sliding reducer comes with the poly hive, and it slides to give infinite adjustments to the entrance size. The metal reducer is reversible by turning it upside down on the pine hive, to lock the bees in but still allowing ventilation, I bought on EBay as a ‘mouse guard’.
In the wet season, as in December, January and into February humidity here can be 90 to 100% with no actual rain, but when it rains it pours down. 100mm in 24 hours is very common with 215mm in 6 hours the record here. That said my last two ‘wet seasons’ I was in a severe drought and for 15 months with no rain and I was feeding about 1/2 my hives on and off. Most of my foraging is natural coastal bush land and heath land, The bush flowered but there was a dearth of nectar but plenty of pollen.
