This is being sold local to me, but it seems very low priced. How to tell of it is real or fake?
It is the real FlowHive however I would pay cash on pick-up as there are many scams out.
Hello and welcome to the Flow forum! ![]()
I second @Paras’s comments, but I also have a couple of observations.
- The rotating arm that holds the back covers in place has been attached in an odd position. Why? Normally it is central above the arc which exposes the back of the Flow frames.
- Both covers are missing (frame cover and Flow key cover).
- The straight cut hand holds indicate that it is a Flow hive classic. No problem there, I bought the same model and it works fine. Just don’t pay Flow hive 2 prices for it.

- No sign of the Flow tubes or key. You can order these from Flow, but it would help to know whether they are included. If not, you can expect to be another $50+ out of pocket
If it was me, I would go and take a look at it, as @Paras suggested, but don’t pay up front until you know what is included and why they are selling.
If all looks good, congratulations on a great find!

The flow hive should have “flow” and the logo etched into the roof (though I’m not sure if it is on both ends of the roof or not). Check to see if it is on at least one end of the roof.
It is only on the front end, not at the back where the Flow frame and key covers are located (assuming the roof has been put on the hive the correct way round!
)
Agree with everyone - looks unused too! maybe the arm latch was just misplaced during assembly. If you do buy this you should move it to the center as @Dawn_SD pointed out, because it can then hold both covers in place. Just make sure it doesn’t block the larger cover when it’s turned horizontally and make it tricky to remove the cover as I’ve seen happen on some.
I’ll also confirm that the Flow logo will only be on the front of the roof/outer cover on the Classic, and that this pic shows the cover on the “right way round” with the roof end cutout at the back ![]()
