The Cherokee Beekeepers Club had it’s summer picnic and workshops today. Tons of practical, hands-on workshops on varroa mite testing via sugar shakes, sugar rolls and sticky boards. Queen marking (drones), honey pulling and extraction, fume boards etc.
There was a smoker contest to see whose smoker stayed lit the longest and I won but only because the winner had to use six matches to light his - we were limited to three. His smoker stayed lit longer so frankly, I came in second.
