I took over 6 hives from someone I know and want to know what the most important tips are to know for me at the start. Can someone help me?

Good luck with the hives. You have a lot to learn and the best advice I have is
1/ watch as many you tube videos from serious beekeepers. Frederick Dunn’s channel is great. There are many others including the flow hives peoples videos. I learnt initially from those.
2/ Try to find a local beekeeper who can be a mentor or do at least the first few inspections with you.
