Quality Very Bad - Really Not Happy with the 'Flow' Experience

Here’s one of my flow frames. The bottom flow part doesn’t sit correctly and if full of honey this will just flow all over the hive. The plastic end part sits bent. When pushed in correctly you see the large gap it shows at the cells.
The plastic part isn’t staying when pushed in. Keeps popping back out.

Not very happy with the quality for the price of these.

That looks like the wiring is loose. Send your photo to info@honeyflow.com, but there is a post with a set of instructions and video on how to fix it, if you are willing to do it yourself. I will modify this message when I find it…

Done that dawn. All the combs fell out :scream: But got it all back together with some patience.

It’s a lot better, the end cap part wasn’t installed correctly, it’s installed right now but still isn’t 100%.

You don’t expect to have to do this for brand new items

I bet they would ship you a replacement if you asked. They have generally been very good about that kind of thing.

I had some small gaps on my frames. So I tightened the wire as per Ceders video, and most closed up but this gap will not close up, not sure if this will be much of a problem or not. I couldn’t get the video of how to take the frames apart to working utube. Bit nervous about having a go till I see the video😬. If someone has a link that works I would appreciate it. Cheers Tim

I just tried this one and it worked for me:

Thanks Dawn, I have watched this video, it shows how to tigten the wire. The video I can’t watch is the one where it shows how to take frame apart and put back together again. Cheers Tim

Ah sorry, my mistake. I just searched youtube and couldn’t find it on there. Could they have withdrawn it? Perhaps @Faroe could give you an updated link.

Dawn

I have emailed Cedar in regards to this, and am just waiting for an answer.

All the videos we currently have are here - http://www.honeyflow.com/about-flow/flow-hive-assembly-modifications/p/142

But I couldn’t see any images that looked like your Flow Frame - that’s why I have emailed.

P.s. - please email this to info@honeyflow.com - in case this is a problem with the Flow Frame that can’t be fixed - then it’s in our system and we can organise for the replacement frame to be sent.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks, I know it’s not working - but the link takes you to Youtube.

I put the one link to that page - because there are multiple videos for viewing.

Big hug, @Cedar. We love you too, and your baby boy!

Seriously, you have inspired us to get back into beekeeping, and you have created some huge shoes for yourself. I don’t envy you, but I do respect you and your team. Don’t give up, you have a loyal customer base out here!

And seriously, the customer support from both Flow and Bee Thinking is excellent. Yes, there are hiccups, but the willingness shown to put it right is just what is needed.

Thanks again!

I got my wooden parts, so will work on it in the next few weeks and let you all know how it works out.

I’ve sent a message to the email… I took it apart and redone it. It’s much better but still has the gap at the bottom. I believe the clear plastic end is bent hence the reason it’s leaving the gap.

Thanks all

I have a few issues with mine as well. One of the side panels on the brood box had a few cracked ends. Screwing the panels together would have caused them to crack. Flow said they would send out a replacement.

My bottom assembly also had large gouge in it with hairline cracks. I emailed them about a replacement a few days ago but haven’t heard back. I could fill it with wood putty, but I’m afraid it will eventually just crack and fall off once sitting outside for a season. If it wasn’t for the price, I wouldn’t really mind and just pick up a new one (if they even make parts available).

Oh and mine shipped from Lancaster, PA. I’m right in Jersey.

Thank you for both the heads up and the statement, “it’s bad with a startup, not to lock down quality control, particularly regarding basic shaping of components.” That alone will make or break a company and if FLOW wants to last and grow they had better jump on this issue ASAP…otherwise their product will end up on Craigslist by disenchanted buyers…
