Uncracked caps in window

I just harvested a kilo of honey from a frame next to the window.
I had a look in the window this evening…and it looks like the caps didn’t crack! They look exactly the same as before…
What gives?

Everything worked as designed!

Ideally the wax should crack between the cells, leaving the cappings as an intact sheet. It doesn’t always work that way, but in the best case scenario, that is what happens. So you had a perfect Flow harvest!

Don’t worry about the cappings, the bees feel vibrations with their feet. They can sense empty cells vs. full cells, even under cappings. Within a couple of days, they will likely have torn the wax off, and emptied any remnants of honey, or started refilling if you still have a good nectar flow.

Congratulations! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Oh thank you! I was afraid the frames were broken or something.
It’s been a very good year up in Scotland and I’m going to get two harvests I think. Now if only the lime trees would make nectar this year…
