Using Beewax Sheets attaching them to new frames?

I have new frames. I ordered pure beeswax sheets. I took 2 beeswax sheets and mushed/attached to the comb draw wood guide-on each side of the frame. It’s hanging well and I pinched the border of the wax sheets together.

The space between the 2 wax sheets were not pushed/pinched together.

Is this okay??? Will the bees make it solid and finish these correctly?? I thought this could be better than plastic honeycomb sheets dipped in wax; that my new hive might build on then faster??

Hi Clayton & welcome to the forum.

I’m having trouble picturing what you did. Can you post a photo?

Personally I like to fit wax foundation into tightly wired frames.

Hi @Clayton_Ogilvie welcome.

Curious why you have used two sheets? The bees will draw out both sides of a sheet of wax.
I, like many only use one sheet with stainless steel wire for the support. The bees will draw out around the wire.

Hey I’m not sure lol what I’m doing being a new beekeeper.

I thought Bc of the heat being around 100, 1 sheet might melt off the frame so I doubled down and sandwiched them. Will it be okay or did I mess up??

Hi Clayton, definitely use one sheet. They need to be embedded into the 4 wires that run through the holes in the side bars. Can you get assistance through a bee club?

I had an experience with a frame that was fitted with 2 sheets of foundation by accident. I used to sell colonies on an exchange frame basis. It was a frame that someone swapped. Would you believe that the bees made an absolute mess of it, for some reason.

We made a video a few years ago, to show what a mess bees can do to foundation that’s not fitted properly. The thing is that we want the bees to produce as many workers as possible on a frame. More workers & less drones.
