Thanks @Eva for letting me know. Greatly appreciated. :grinning::pray:

Hehe, well I should probably amend that to the 1000th post on this thread, actually , but a fun milestone just the same!

We have harvested 14.5kgs already and more to harvest soon. I have two out 7 hives which have been the biggest contributor to the harvest.

One of which is on double brood and their work force is strong. The other one was double brood but had to perform swarm control due to swarm cells and now they on single brood.

I do like the double brood setup as the bees do expand very fast and bring lots more honey than a single brood setup. Only harvesting FlowHive supers. Any honey in the brood box is left for the bees.

Hi there Paras. Do you find the bees of the double brood more difficult to work with, due to the hive being a bigger colony?

Hi

I have been lucky with the genetics of my bees as they are very placid. The double brood colony, I am able to inspect the hive without smoking the bees. Yes the management is little different and you still need to do your swarm control.

From next year I am going to rear new queens from my colony with the most placid nature, stronger honey production and longevity. These make it easy to work with such bees.

All my queens are local breed queens, they are not pure breed.

Having 7/8 colonies allows to choose the best genetics for a my back yard beekeeping.

Couple of pics from the last inspection of our FlowHive2 7 frame hive at work. Love watching them Bridge to try to close the gap. Amazing strength and agility.

This is my hive at work. They are doing okay. Bit of a dearth in June in the UK so feeding and removed the super as they aren’t filling it. Next year hopefully.

Flow Hive at home is ready for harvesting this weekend.

I can’t wait to see your first harvest video Dylan. Your passion is infectious :+1::ok_hand:
