Hi! Nice to hear your colony is coming along. I’m not sure but I think you have to wait til after you’ve participated some length of time/number of posts or replies before you can upload pics…memory is fuzzy but I seem to recall that from my earlier forum days 
I mainly use a smartphone to read & post, and I just tap the word Upload down at the lower right of the pane. Then I get a menu of what to choose & either take a new pic or use one from my library. Hope that helps!
