Bees consumed a quart of 1:1 syrup with hbh in a few hours is that normal?and i did observe two bees fighting at entrance

I fed two of my hives a 1: 1 sugar syrup with HBH and they consumed it in a few hours is that normal or are they being robbed I’m using wooden hive top feeders

How much syrup by volume. I’ve given them a quart jar and they down it in 18 to 48 hours. So it depends on the volume of syrup. Also is it leaking?

No it’s not leaking they downed it in about 6 or seven hours it was 1:1 syrup with a teaspoon of HBH the reason I checked so soon was because it was a home brew recipe I made for the HBH with lemon grass and lavender and spearmint

How many cups or liters? They can down a cup or more in 6 hours easy in a very strong hive.

1 quart a mason jar full

They were thirsty. Pretty quick. Where do you have the bottle? At the hive entrance or on the top cover? Top cover feeding it would be unlikely to be robbed. It at the hive entrance, look to see if the bees are really frenetic that may indicate some robbing.

It is a hive top feeder they come up through center and there is a reservoir on each side

Robbing seems unlikely. They may have been really hungry? I’d do a few feedings and see. Depending on your location you may be experiencing a dearth and they’d be eager for the syrup.sorry for missing the original top hive feeder detail.
