Now onto building my frames for the brood. Then im onto building the spare super and spare brood.

Then painting time!!

I love it all, except… Your brood box and super are on back to front. The honey draining shelf needs to be on the back of the hive, as does the Flow frame viewing window. Simple to fix, just lift and rotate, but I wanted to make sure that you understand

Next super done…

You really, really, REALLY don’t want to encourage bees to crawl into your harvest. The best way to avoid that is to harvest from the back of the hive. I know that you get it, I just want you to remember it when you get excited about harvesting!

Ok, so I think this is right… 2 broods + 2 supers…

I couldn’t work out how to have two functioning filling shelves but oh well…

The Queen excluder is on top of the higher brood box as normal.

NB

A pile of kindling OR 20 frames… we shall see…

Unboxed this while sort kindling…

All sorted… And thats me for today…

I dont see how people can say theres only a few hours in these hives… so far its taken me 4 hours yesterday and 6 hours today. Plus an hour of unboxing beforehand.

Frames tomorrow…

You shouldn’t really need 2 Flow supers, but you can if you want. I use one, and if they are not capping the lower Flow super, even though it is full, I put a traditional super (usually a medium depth) on top, to give “headspace” for them to circulate the air and dry the honey down enough to cap it. Usually works within a week or two, depending on how humid the weather is.

Very nice work, well done!

It took me about 2 hours to build my first Flow hive, but that was a classic - the Flow 2s are more complicated now. Also I have probably built 30-50 hive boxes over the years, so it doesn’t take long to work out where things go. I understand that it takes time to learn and to do it properly. I admire your crafting ability

Yeah, it was my first hive ever… Im sure more experienced people like yourself could do it a lot quicker  2 hours is awesome… very well done :+1::+1:

30 to 50 hives :exploding_head::heart: wow!!

I was taking notes and pictures as I went to try and document it for people who are thinking of buying one to get into bee keeping as well…

I also have feedback for the flow people as well :smirk:

Cheers and thankyou for the kind feedback.
