Im thinking of starting beekeeping, but I live in a highly populated bear area. We have an hoa so sadly no electric fences. Does anyone have knowledge about out-apiaries or other solutions
Could you build an enclosed structure (shed or something like that to house the hives - could also allow you access on rainy days inside the shed/barn), or would it be possible to install a platform on roof of your dwelling that you could keep the hives?
Then if nether of those possible, maybe consider to get a livestock guardian dog as a ‘pet’
for your place, but I’d encourage you to make sure you are prepared to handle/control a dog like that - that may not be as people friendly as a golden retriever. Be aware of the liability.

We have a small grey plastic shed under a overhang from our house, but I dont know how bearproof it is. I might test it with a piece of bacon or food.
