It’s really nice, but am experiencing the smoker holder coming off when I take the smoker out. I have pushed in the tabs as far as possible to get a better grip, but it is still loose and comes off.
Most of here are beekeepers and not specialists in the various products that Flow sells. They sell a lot of different stuff! I have never had this problem with any of my (non-Flow) smokers.
I would suggest that you take some photos and e-mail them to info@honeyflow.com, with your order number, if you have it. They are very good at getting back with suggestions within a couple of days. Be sure to check your junk/spam if you haven’t heard by then. Sorry not to be able to answer your question!
Maybe @leahd can help out here. She works for Flow, although I am not sure that this is her department. Since Kieran departed a few months ago, I am not really sure who deals with customer service issues on the forum. Hopefully we can get you an answer soon!
Thank you for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear you’re having this issue. Can you please let me know if you’re removing the smoker by pulling on the metal ring or the bellows?
We’ve had another customer with a similar issue, and it turned out they weren’t compressing the bellows enough before removing it from the caddy.
I’ve found that pinching the tabs closed on the caddy (which you’ve already done) and compressing the bellows when taking out the smoker usually does the trick.
Let me know if that helps. If you’re still having trouble please let me know. We’re here to help! – Leah
To be honest, I am removing the bellows as gentle as anything with the clip on and bellows held closed and although this can be successful when watching what I am doing and taking it out in a dead straight line, it wouldn’t be suitable being out and about as it’s just too loose.
The slightest bump can make the holder fall off. It should ideally be clipped in, but it’s just sitting and unfortunately.
I have tried to upload a video so you can see how easily it will come off, but unfortunately when trying it says I am not authorised too.
You can’t directly upload a video to the forum, but there is a work-around. If you upload it to YouTube first, make sure it is Public, then copy the Share link from youTube and post it here, we can all watch it.
If you need to be able to remove the holder, my solution would be to fold up some cardboard thick enough to be able to wedge in tight, so that it doesn’t wobble. If you don’t need to readily remove it, you could bolt it tight, which can still be removed in a couple of minutes.
It’s £189 uk pounds, so quite expensive. I am hoping Flow can help with this as I don’t really want to rely on cardboard after the expense.
I guess I could drill and put screws in to hold it still, but if I make a hash of it then that wouldn’t be good, although both options noted
You would think that the holder would snap into situ on the caddy, but it doesn’t unfortunately, with nothing to stop it sliding back off.
I have no idea if this is a poorly made one or if this is just how it is. If anything, the tabs should be slightly wider for a much cosier slotted in fit.
The reviews for them are good, although there is one person in the reviews saying his smoker always falls off. I think this will be a similar situation if not rectified.
Thanks for sharing this video with us, Quintin. It definitely should not be that loose. We really want our customers to be satisfied and happy with our products.
Could I please ask you to email this video to info@honeyflow.com with the subject line “Attention: Leah”? I’d like our product team to look into this as a matter of priority.
I’m sorry you’re experiencing this issue, and we appreciate your understanding. We’ll do our best to resolve this for you as quickly as possible.
Or even put a thin bead of mastic (caulking) between the caddy and the bracket, so that there is just enough stick to stop the slip. Then if you find a better solution, you can just peel it off!
Just to follow up here, I’ve spoken with our Product team, and while they haven’t encountered any production issues with this part, they can see how Quintin’s looks a bit loose. The product team has suggested “to press all four tabs in more firmly and equally, you should see them bend in further. This adjustment can make a significant difference in holding the smoker holder securely in place, which should stop it sliding off easily.”
Quintin, your satisfaction is our top priority, and we’re committed to ensuring you have a great experience with your caddy – Leah
As mentioned before, and not wanting to write without reason, I have spent a good while bending the tabs in to try and gain an hold, however, it is still as loose and will not hold the bracket firmly.
I have used my J tool to push all four tabs in firmly, without any success.
