Flow Super on Langstroth brood box

Hi,
This is my 2nd year in beeking, just got my second hive started and I am using the plastic mesh-bottom stand and brood box with insulation from ANEL. My plan is to get two Flow Supers 7-frames so i can harvest the honey. I intend to keep only two hives and give away the splits whenever I have bees to spare.
I measured the brood box and its external dimensions are 51cm long with 1.5cm thickness on both sides x 41.5cm wide with 2cm thickness on both sides.
The external dimensions of Hive2+ are: 50cm x 40.5cm
The external dimensions of the Classic are: 50.8cm x 41.1cm

It seems like the Classic version is a lot closer to the brood box dimensions but do you think the Hive2+ would work as well? I like the fact it has 2 viewing windows and also the red cedar wood

I would love to hear your opinion on which Super to buy

Thanks,
Harry

Hey Harry,
Hives are built for consistent inside dimensions so that “bee space” is maintained and frames fit. Wood varies slightly in thickness, hence the variation you’ve found in outside dimensions. In practice, the slight difference between boxes doesn’t affect their use. The largest difference you have is 8mm, with an overlap each end of 4mm. A big deal in metal machining, but insignificant in wooden bee boxes.
Have fun! Beekeeping is the best recreational pursuit in existence.
