I have my hive resting on wide piece of granite slab that I had lying around. Very stable, but I noticed most hives are resting on rails, like 2x4’s.
Is this necessary for ventilation?
Is my arrangement sufficient?
It isn’t necessary. I had a hive on cinderblocks for several years, and it did just fine.
