Has anyone ever thought about modifying (or actually modified) a hybrid super so that the flow frames are encased in an encapsulating excluder (combined horizontal and vertical excluder) that permits the 4 standard frames to be accessible to the colony for brood but restricting the flow frames for honey?
I realise the flow frames would be in the preferred location for brood (middle), especially in cooler weather, but during the warmer months it would provide an additional 4 frames for the colony to expand into.
Any thoughts on why this might not work, encapsulating excluder aside?
