Dumb question but I’m new. I ordered squeeze honey bear jars, the lids were just laying around box so seem dusty and need of washing. I’m planning to wash it all but the flip lids have little disposable seals in there. I’m afraid if I wash, moisture will be trapped under it. Should I toss the seals? I’m not selling or shipping it. Does it need the seals?
Hi Winnie and welcome to the forum. My guess would be if you’re not selling or shipping the honey to leave the seals out. Not speaking from experience on the honey bear jars here, however the trick to keeping ripe honey in storage for long periods of time is to keep the containers well sealed.
One day I shared some mead with someone in a used maple syrup bottle which I couldn’t get to seal properly during transport, so I used some thread tape which did the job perfectly.
