I don’t use my smoker very often…and I must say I seem to get along fine without a whole lot of it! I recommend tea towels
Ok seriously, is there really no teapot emoji??

I admit I am a bit of a wimp Eva.
Nice to see your post Paras, seems like it’s been awhile! Love the pink hives, and what a great little pal you have there
Thank you Eva,
Had a very interesting beekeeping year, had two colonies that were not great. Requeened them and did a split ended up with 9 colonies from 3.
My son loves coming to check the hives, next year will plan to do more videos and upload in YouTube.
Planning to do the queen rearing assessment next year and teach as well.
I have many customers who only want the FlowHive honey, have built up a hype of our honey which is an advantage for us when selling our honey.
It’s hard to take pictures / videos when you are beekeeping but will try and do some more.
They are a little disguised with insulation at the moment but they are in
Here is my setup. The single brood box is a caught swarm that is only one month old. The other hive will get a new brood box very soon as it is getting very full.
My two sons gave me a Pollinator house for Christmas, couple of coats of tung oil and installed it today
I love your stand! Nicely elevated and like a hive deck.
Thanks Martha. The land is on a slope so when working the hives at the back it is just about mid thigh for me. Makes everything just a bit easier not having to bend as much😀
Here is the early germination of the Willamette Valley prairie I planted in September 2019. Thirty two species that will provide nectar from April through October. Just painting the hive boxes now. Three acres.
So today way a great day, after purchasing my flow super 2 1/2 ago I finally extracted my first honey.
After weekly inspection of the flow super I opened and inspected the frames and 3 frames were over 80% capped so I decides to extract one frame.
I extracted 3kg of Floral Aromatic and Delicious Golden Honey
Hello everyone
My colonies have developed well. I mistakenly must have killed a queen in February when I was feeding pollen patties so to utilise the bees I merged it with a nucleus colony.
My second nucleus appears to have dwindled might find a dead colony when I open them up for inspection on Sunday.
But have 7 healthy colonies
Are they painted or is that a contact/vinyl covering?
They look impressive!
Thanks Alan. They all have 3 coats of White Semi-Gloss Exterior paint including the roofs and stands before adding the color. I then put a 3M Vinyl Wrap on the broods & supers from a company here in the US called Bee Box Wraps. They are based in Louisiana and have had good success using their wraps in the humid environment there. I liked the way they look. Hopefully it adds another layer of protection and the designs will possibly aide in reducing drifting as well. I have two medium supers that I wrapped with the Bee Box Wraps to match, you may catch a glimpse of in the background of the pic with the Blue Flow Hive.
Time will tell how the product actually holds up to the hot & humid Summers and recent hot, wet, then cold Winters here in Northeast South Carolina. (A vicious cycle over the last few years)
Great to see you keeping the bees native
I was kinda hoping you’d come back and tell me you were insulted by my question and that it was your own artistic talents!
The hives look good. If you remember, come back in a year and tell us how well the product weathers.
I love it! Great artistic touch.
Thanks Martha. My artistic ability ended with taping and painting the Flow Logos which could’ve been a little neater. I never was good at coloring inside the lines as a kid, lol. Wish I could take credit for the art work on the brood and Flow Super, but they are a 3M Vinyl wrap from Bee Box Wraps.
