Watering point for the new hive

Obviously they will need to be cleaned up, sealed and painted. And ladders added for the bees. What is everyone’s thoughts?

Hi Robert, welcome to the forum.

It would be a great watering point. You wouldn’t even need to clean them, as long as there’s no poison in them. You wouldn’t need ladders, just rocks that protrude above the waterline.

I have bathtubs with Chinese water chestnuts growing in them. Bees love to use the plants to stand on while drinking. Having something growing in water might be a good idea for you.

Cheers. Yeah I was thinking some type of water plant as a bee float for them.

Unrelated topic, @JeffH, I just seen another post of your dragon fruit and I am quite jealous of your efforts. I can only dream of producing some like that.

Thanks Robert. I see on Gardening Australia some stuff that grows down your way that we can’t grow up here. Cherries, apples & stone fruit for example.

Just thinking: dragonfruit might grow well in hot houses.
