Good day.
I hope you and your bees are doing well.
I am sorry to revitalize old post (not sure that is a fauxpa here or not) but I saw that maybe you had previously purchased from Bee Thinking, correct?
I wonder you have bought any hive bodies from Bee thinking (which when I follow link appears to now be Bee Built and under new management since 2019) since the thread back in 2015-16?
I wonder if you or maybe another member knows if they have same hive bodies and fit and close match to flow hives?
Any suggestion would bee appreciated.
I have not purchased from Bee Built, as the ones I bought almost 10 years ago are doing very well! I have perused their web site though, and it seems that things that i might want are often sold out.
Depending which size of Flow hive you have, any Langstroth 8 or 10-frame boxes fit. The only issue is that they may be 5mm different in width. The bees donāt care about this, and if you center the boxes over each other, it makes no difference to the colony at all. However, those with severe OCD may have trouble adjusting to the overlapping look. The only way around that is to buy everything from Flow.
This is one supplier I have found with cedar hives, which should match Flow hives in color, if not exact size. If I needed more boxes, I might try them:
Good luck!
Thank you very much.
I appreciate you.
I have both sizes of Flow Hives (1 - 10 and 2 -8sā¦second 8 paint just finished drying last night!)
The are the red cedar which I like, but cedar can splinter pretty easily, and Iāve never seen cedar boxes where I am at (Ohio).
Hopefully they last, they betterā¦I think we have spent more on paint than the hive bodiesš.
Thank you for the response and extra link.
Have a great day.
