Early Summer Nucs @ Victoria: Kangaroo Island Ligurian Bees - Pre-order required!

30 Nucs left for the Mid-December 2015 arrival, be sure to pre-order ASAP.

I am the Victorian agent for Kangaroo Island Ligurian Bees and am based in Bunyip Victoria (Australia).

The Ligurian bees are perfect for the beginner beekeeper and for urban environments. They come from the worlds oldest bee sanctuary (est 1885) Kangaroo Island which due to their bio-security rules, they are disease free as well as genetically pure.

Ligurian traits:

  • Both productive and very gentle.
  • Possess longer tongues allowing them to gather nectar from more floral sources.
  • They work earlier and later in both the hours of the day and the season.
  • The queen is easier to spot which is ideal for novices.
  • The queen is a prolific layer yet slows production during winter (uses less stores)
  • Low robbing behavior
  • Excellent hive cleanliness

Nucs are $198 each. Scheduled pickup only.

Due to the number of orders coming in and limited stock, it is critical to pre-order your 5 frame nucleus hive as soon as possible. This batch of nucs are due Mid-December to Christmas 2015 just in time for the December Flow Hive deliveries! As soon as they are due to come in, those who have pre-ordered will be notified of the due date.

Should you also require assembled frames (wired and wax foundation), these can be supplied at $6 each.

I would love to get some of these girls. I’m assuming there is no way to ship them to the states.

@adagna there are rules about shipping bees to the USA not I think you will find

Sorry, I have not facilities here that can ship them.

I hear that Australian bees are shipped to Canada which are then moved into the States.

Hi there, have just come back from Kangaroo Island and visited the Ligurian bee farms. I live in the Dandenong Ranges outside of Melbourne. Will be receiving my flow hive in December and am doing a beekeeping course this weekend. I am a beginner and don’t know how this all works yet but like the gentle aspect of the Ligurian bees. Can I contact you next week after I’ve done my beekeeping course to order? Very interested.
All the best
Elissa

Hi Elissa,

Of course you can, however I can’t guarantee if the won’t be all pre-sold by then as we have limited numbers available…

My online shop is tracking the orders and remaining nucs.

Cheers,

William
