Greetings from a newbee

Just started this wonderful hobby wished I had started earlier in life I have learned some much over the last few months there is so much more to learn. I didn’t even realize how important the bee is to our very existence and how one should be very careful and conscious about the bee population I have been involved in agriculture all my life and sort of took it for granted that the bee population would always be here but I now realize that we have to do more to save the B population and believe you me I will try to do my best

Great! They’ll probably build up nicely. All the same I would advise for you to take off the super for now, so they can concentrate on brood rearing and keeping warm during these chilly nights.

OP, very nice looking hive.

what did you use to coat/preserve the exterior? (I’ve only painted and have thought about using an oil)

The natural wood grain sure looks nice with the blue roof:+1:

I used a mixture of beeswax and Mineral oil gave it two coats waiting for 24 hrs between coats to dry.
