Anyone here use the penney technique to elevate the inner cover for ventilation?

I do. Seems to help a lot. Think about how big a hole that would be 
Penny’s in the corners seemed to help my bees stay cooler. Cost is good !
Any caveats?
Look out for wasps, water intrusion, penny thieves?
