Hi everyone,
I’ve been trying to improve how I manage hive records and track seasonal changes across my apiaries.
Right now I’m curious how others here handle it do you use notebooks, spreadsheets, or any digital tools for hive management and tracking?
For me, it gets a bit challenging to keep everything consistent when managing multiple hives, especially when trying to compare performance across seasons (brood patterns, honey flow, treatments, etc.).
I’m interested in what actually works in real beekeeping practice simple systems vs more detailed tracking setups.
What tools or methods are you currently using for hive management and tracking? And what do you feel is missing in most of them?
Record keeping is more important than ever with Varroa in the mix. Documenting everything you do in the hives/apiary allows better planning and decisions.
I use an old app called BeePlus on my iPad. There’s new ones popping up, but so far nothing that tempts me to change.

I use apilog. It has a voice recording feature. It’s free for up to two hives.
Thanks Mike. I agree, especially now with Varroa management becoming such a big part of beekeeping.
What do you like most about BeePlus? Is there anything you feel it doesn’t do well when managing multiple apiaries or comparing hive performance over time?
I find BeePlus easy to use whether for one hive or multiple apiaries. It has facility for costing/managing equipment, swarm traps and more. Use as much or as little as required. I think it was a once only purchase of $12. That was a few years ago. I like the QR code hive ID feature too.
