Hello! Assembling the base of the flow hive and everything looked fine until putting in the metal screen. It fits very snug in two opposing corners with large gaps in the other two corners. We are sanding, and reassembling still with some issues. What is the absolute largest size gap allowed between the metal screen and wood box? I’ve read all of the issues that can come from gaps so I want to make sure it’s as snug as possible. Any advice or suggestions on how to improve this?
Hi Devon, there shouldn’t be any gaps at all. All the ones I’ve seen fit perfectly. Can you post a photo?
It sounds like it isn’t “square”. The base corners need to be properly “squared” so that they meet at a right angle. I used a metal triangle tool to ensure this, then used wood clamps to hold the parts square while I screwed them together. Rather than sanding the wood, it would be better to fix the angle of the corners ![]()
