New Flow Hive near San Jose, California

I live near San Jose, California and am soon to be a new beekeeper! I have put together my first Flow hive and have a nuc on order for April. I have joined the Santa Clara County Beekeepers Guild and have made contacts with some locals, but I see lots of Flow-haters online, and I want to make sure I have some Flow positive contacts nearby if questions come up! Would love to connect. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum and the beekeeping addiction.
You’ll get a wide range of beekeeping advice and certainly some narrow points of view in this hobby. Most of the Flow Hive hater opinions I’ve seen are speculation rather than from experience. Flow Hive’s early marketing gave some the impression that their way was effortless and promoted lazy beekeeping practices. They’ve since produced excellent training videos and marketing that correct that impression.
Flow Hives only change the harvesting method, otherwise it’s standard Langstroth beekeeping. Some use the frames in modified Long Langs (horizontal hives) that make brood inspections easier.
The best way to deal with the haters in my view, is to become an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and successful beekeeper. There’s no argument with success. You’re off to a great start. When you’ve gained some experience, I suggest you join the club committee to represent the Flow Hive members and promote best practice beekeeping.
