Im in the Bendigo area and am new to beekeeping, would it be to late to buy a nuc and install it by the end of February. Could it make enough food to get it through winter. How often should you open and check on your brood box over winter or should you just leave it alone so you aren’t letting the heat out and the cold in

If there isn’t year-round excess forage, it is likely getting late. You’d be better off just starting out next spring with a strong nuc instead of nursing your colony through the winter.
